THE THIRD GENERATION HYUNDAI i20, THE POPULAR PREMIUM HATCHBACK

The i20 always has been one of the most favorite hatchbacks in India and the third generation has now been revealed by Hyundai in the late 2020, it comes with complete new and different look and performance from its previous generations.

The car looks very much fancy and sporty in terms of its design, if you compare from its outgoing models, at instance you may not find it very much attractive but yes from in person the car looks good indeed. Many new features are added in this machine by Hyundai with keeping the current competition in the market in head,

There are lots of specs on offer on this car, with few of its variants available. For the engine you get a 1.0 L 3-cylinder, 1.2 L 4-cylinder and a 1.5 L 4-cylinder diesel. Further more, you get 7-speed Automatic transmission and 5-6 speed manual transmission. For the gear box there are also few options, where you can opt. for CVT, DCT and Clutch less Manual(iMT) as well. Depending upon the variant and fuel type the i20 has a mileage of 19.65 to 25.2 kmpl, which is a very good average fuel economy for the city as well as for the highways.

The car gets a good seating capacity up to 5 people when we talk about hatchbacks. The wheel size come of 185/65 15s.

The car gets the minimum features to offer like power windows, cruise control, automatic climate control, alloy wheels, driver and passenger airbags which is a very big +1 because the all over safety here is not compromised relating to the price, the DCT variant gets the Turbocharged Engine which is a dual clutch one same as the Turbo variant of the Verna which again gives you the refinement you always want when driving the car.

The car also have the dual tone variant, which looks fantastically well and justifies the sporty new look of the car, which was not available in the previous generations. This car gives you a lot of variants on offer where there are 16 available for the manual and 8 for the automatic, also the gear box range is just completely insane.

Interior of the car.

Hyundai has done a very good job no doubt with the interior of the car, which is completely different if you compare with the previous generations, and the new design element inside the car and the dashboard looks stellar and it looks more of a BMW hatchback, of course it is not but its better to say it is inspired from the BMW.

The Tachometer is digital, which comes with Electronic Multi-Trip meter. The digital infotainment system is of 10 inches which is quite big enough and there are many things you can access through it like Apple car play and various other multimedia options. The windshield is slightly bigger from before and you get a very good overall view from the driver's seat. Yes, you don't get any sunroof but you can't much more than this in this price range particularly. The dashboard does't offer any dual tone finish rather it has all black finish with  red accents for the turbo variants and normal standard finish for the other. Hard plastics are all over the dashboard but the quality is overall good in terms of the minimum standards.

Overall, the new i20 makes a good appeal in the Indian markets with a very good and affordable price range offering quite many ranges of variants.

The car is available between a price range of Rs.6.80 lakhs* - Rs.11.33 lakhs* (Ex-showroom Kolkata).
